Excel & Office Overview (part 1)

Description: This course is designed to teach you the basic beginning steps of MS 2010 Excel and an overview of Office 2010. Learn how to use the Excel application for creating spreadsheets, financial reports, papers and more that may be required for classes, your job or for your own record keeping. Topics include: number manipulation, automatic adding of a column of numbers, proper font size and type, cell margin settings, inserting tables for formatting purposes, renaming spreadsheets, etc. Other Office products will also be discussed.

Coca-Cola/Sodexo Schedule Mug Night at UMSL Soccer

Description: The first 50 UMSL Students, Faculty and/or staff to show their UMSL ID at the September 20 Double Header Soccer match vs St. Joseph’s (Women:5:00pm/Men:7:30pm) will receive a free 22oz UMSL Athletic Fall Schedule Travel Mug, courtesy of Coca-Cola and Sodexo. Mugs can be re-filled at any Sodexo Retail location for $1.50!! Coca-Cola representatives will also be on hand sampling product, near the concession stand for all fans. Each student will receive a raffle ticket and be entered in the drawing to win a $50 of Live Nation Concert Cash (there will be a drawing at halftime of both the men and women’s games).

University Program Board Experience STL: Balloon Glow

Location: Central Fields at Forest Park

Description: Enjoy a free picnic meal with UPB and friends before The Balloon Glow begins. Spectators are offered a breathtaking view of inflated balloons lighted by their burners. Get up close and walk around the balloons. Meet in the Office of Student Life located on the 3rd floor of the MSC at 5:30 PM. We will depart for Forest Park via the UMSL North Metrolink.

Zipline Adventure

Tiny Tritons: It’s Time for Magic!

Description: The Oh My Gosh Josh show will have the audience trying with all their heart to tell Josh his hat is on upside down, his wand is broken, and that the animal he’s holding is not a rabbit! You’ll experience amazing feats of juggling, goofball magic, and maybe you’ll even be in the show. Oh My Gosh Josh picks audience volunteers to come up and help him, especially those who are sitting nicely with a big smile on their face. Calling all aspiring magicians! After the show, the Circus Kaput magic workshop will give participants the opportunity to peer behind the mysterious curtain and learn a few tricks. Everyone will receive several tricks to amaze their friends and family.

Beijing Opera – International Performing Arts Series
Date/Time: September 21, 2013 8:00 PM
Location: Lee Theater, Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center

Description: Beijing Opera is a fusion of stylized action, singing, dialogue and mime, acrobatic fighting and dancing to represent a story or depict different characters and their feelings and emotions. Beijing opera has a rich history dating back to the Qing Dynasty (1790) and is considered the most significant of all operas in China. The performance is sure to be as visually stunning as it is artistically pleasing. This event is FREE with an UMSL ID card.

Coffee Life in Japan

Description: Professor White shows how coffee and coffee spaces have been central to the formation of Japanese notions about the uses of public space, social change, modernity, and pleasure. She describes how the café in Japan, from its start in 1888, has been a place to encounter new ideas and experiments in thought, behavior, sexuality, dress, and taste. It is where a person can be socially, artistically, or philosophically engaged or politically vocal.
