UMSL junior Jon Huelsman

Junior midfielder Jon Huelsman of the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s soccer team has been named the Disney Soccer/NSCAA Division II Player of the Week.

Huelsman, who was also named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, helped the UMSL Tritons finish the week tied for second overall in conference action with an 8-2 mark following home wins against Lewis and UW-Parkside. In last Friday’s 1-0 shutout over the Flyers, Huelsman converted a penalty kick for the game-winner, while landing all four of his shots on goal. In last Sunday’s 2-1 victory over the Rangers, the Waterloo, Illinois, native found the back of the net with 4:32 to play for his second game-winner of the week. Over the entire weekend, Huelsman posted eight shots attempts, landing five on goal.

This is the second weekly national honor in Huelsman’s career, the first of which came almost one year ago to the date on October 15, 2013.

The Disney Soccer/NSCAA Players of the Week are announced every Tuesday throughout the fall college season during the College Highlights and Rankings Show on NSCAATV.com. The program was expanded to include a men’s and women’s winner from all three NCAA divisions in 2013.

The NSCAA is the world’s largest soccer coaches’ organization with members at every level of the game. The membership is primarily made up of coaches, but also includes administrators, referees and others in the soccer industry. The NSCAA provides its members ways to enhance the game of soccer by providing a national education program, interaction and networking opportunities, and membership benefits.
