UMSL Tritons weekly rewind

Both Tritons basketball teams found success over Thanksgiving break with the women knocking off Lincoln and the men beating Robert Morris-Peoria.

Junior guard Kaitlynn Henning scored a career-high 10 points while dishing three assists in the Tritons’ 68-47 victory over Lincoln on Saturday.

Women’s Basketball
UMSL posted a 68-47 win over Lincoln on Saturday in its lone contest of the week. Junior Arielle Jackson knocked down six 3-pointers and notched 20 points while senior Sammie Sproul had 15 points, all on shots from beyond the arc. The duo also added four assists and two steals each. The Tritons (3-1) begin Great Lakes Valley Conference play on the road this week, traveling to 11th-ranked Drury on Thursday before a Saturday game at Truman State.

Men’s Basketball
Three players scored in double figures on Saturday as UMSL picked up an 83-64 win over Robert Morris-Peoria. Senior Steven Davis led the way with 18 points, while freshman Anthony Hughes and junior Johnathan Matthews added 14 points each. The Tritons jumped out to a 12-2 advantage and continued to build on it while opening up a 47-20 halftime lead. UMSL (3-2) opens GLVC play this week with a pair of road games at Drury and Truman State on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
