This series provides an opportunity for faculty and staff to dialogue about highly relevant and less-discussed topics. The series will be led by special guest facilitator, Tabari Coleman. Tabari is a training consultant and social justice advocate known for his thoughtful but direct approach in facilitating dialogue sessions that focus on effective communication and building empathy.  With more than 18 years-experience in diversity and inclusion training and social justice work, he brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and expertise to his work.

This series is  based on the premise that effective communication is the foundation of any inclusive organization. Conversations will acknowledge perspectives without judgment, address blind spots, and challenge the status quo.

What Just Happened: Panel Discussion

UMSL Student Government Association, Department of Political Science, and Department of History are hosting a panel discussion on Thursday, Jan 21 at 4pm.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Observance

Since the inaugural Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance, the campus community has celebrated the life, legacy and message of Dr. King with prolific speakers, inspiring music, song and dance, and the presentation of scholarships.

This year’s event is no different.

The event features Michele Norris, former NPR host and special correspondent, Founding director of The Race Card Project and Washington Post opinions contributor. We will also welcome a special performance led by Brian Owens, founder and executive director of L.I.F.E. Arts, Inc. and the E. Desmond Lee Fine Arts Collaborative Community Music Artist in Residence.

Diversity Alliance Interview Series with Jonathan Lidgus

For our second Diversity Alliance Interview, we speak with the Director of the SUCCEED program, Jonathan Lidgus.

The SUCCEED program focuses on inclusion for all, by being one of the only programs in the nation to serve students of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Jonathan talks about how he helped develop the SUCCEED program; how the program has changed his life; and, other ways he supports faculty, staff, and students with disabilities.
