Level One: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Foundations

Level One – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Foundations

 Module 1:  Multiple Meanings

This module provides an opportunity to explore the different ways that people define the word ‘diversity’ and the different meanings it has in organizational contexts.  Participants will learn more about how these meanings developed throughout history and will discuss the impact of our word usage.

Module 2:  Understanding the Importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The purpose of this module is to help build your capacity to articulate why diversity and inclusion is important, not just for some people but for everyone. In a socio-political environment that can sometimes be dismissive of diversity, it is critically important that people who consider themselves aligned with diversity and inclusion efforts are able to move beyond ‘do the right thing’ reasoning. This part of the module presents a multi-level model of the importance and impact of diversity. This value of diversity model provides a framework for understanding the interrelated relationship between individuals, groups, organizations, institutions, society, and the global context.

Module 3: Diversity and Identities

This module also helps raise participants’ awareness about how they define and view their own identities and how that in turn influences how they relate to others.
