With great enthusiasm, I pre-registered for some of the events that will be occurring at the Grace Hopper Conference 2018. Besides having the opportunity to code during Open Source Day (a code-a-thon for underserved communities), I was pleasantly surprised to see that I could sign up to “program a robot artist” and “build [my] own voice-controlled magic mirror”. I will also have the opportunity to sit in on an “introduction to quantum computing”, as well as “journey[ing] from connecting to protecting cars”. Even though I’ll be learning about the latest opportunities and challenges in the IT world, I feel that being able to connect with other women from diverse backgrounds that will offer me the most insight to which direction(s) I should consider after graduation.
