Touhill March 28: The Martin Hayes Quartet

Saturday, March 28, 2020 8:00PM

Irish fiddler Martin Hayes and Chicago guitarist Dennis Cahill have been touring the world for the past 25 years, creating a new sound in Irish music as a duo and as founding members of the Gloaming, The Martin Hayes Quartet, and Masters of Tradition on Tour.

Hayes, known worldwide for his soulful interpretations of traditional Irish music, created his critically-acclaimed quartet to expand upon the sonic possibilities of the Irish canon. With spacious new arrangements and unusual instrumentation, the group features Martin’s longtime musical partner, guitarist Dennis Cahill, along with classically-trained violinist Liz Knowles, and New York City’s downtown master bass clarinetist Doug Wieselman.

The program will feature a short opening set by the duo of Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill celebrating their 25 years of partnership.
