UMSL to Host GlobalHack III This Weekend

umsl gloablhack logoThe IS department of the College of Business Administration is co-hosting Global Hack III (http://globalhack.org/) this coming weekend (December 5 – 7) in 222 Social Sciences & Business Building (SSB). GlobalHack is a non-profit organization that fosters talent and innovation in St. Louis through hackathons. It aims to bring together developers, designers, and entrepreneurs to solve a real-world technology problem. The winning team wins $50,000 in cash.
This hackathon’s project is defined by Emerson Climate Technologies. Participants will have to design, develop, and implement a new software feature for an existing Emerson product in the connected home market. Participants will be asked to design, develop, and implement a new software feature for an existing Emerson product in the connected home market. Participating teams should have a baseline understanding of mobile application development (iOS and/or Android) and big data analytics; an understanding of electrical/mechanical engineering is a plus, but not required. Teams can be as few as 1, but no larger than 10. If you don’t have a team yet, they provide time at the event, before the competition kicks off, to form new teams and/or join an existing team. Beyond the fun of participating and making new connections, this event will provide students the opportunity to showcase their abilities to local companies, many of whom will be actively recruiting this weekend.
You can register for the event at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/globalhack-iii-tickets-13979947399. For UMSL students, participation is free.
