A new name as well as retail and commercial operations were some ideas proposed for the area around the UMSL South MetroLink station, by a group of experts from the Urban Land Institute St. Louis chapter.

Citizens for Modern Transit in partnership with Metro hosted the panel presentation April 17 on the possibilities for development near the Metro station.

One idea presented was the possibility of rebranding the area around the station as a retail, commercial, event space and renaming the station and surrounding area Plank Street Station.
