Sophomore Joe Atkisson of the University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team was one of only five players selected by vote to the 2012 All-Great Lakes Valley Conference team. The players were voted on by the league’s 14 head coaches.

In all, 13 players earned the nod with eight players being selected based on their top-five finish at the GLVC Tournament in mid-April. Atkisson finished with a team-best scoring average of 75.8 and earned a berth to the NCAA Midwest/South Central Regional, where he finished in a tie for 95th place.

He has recorded six top-10 finishes this season, including a ninth place finish at the GLVC Championship, shooting a 232 (77-75-80). Atkisson’s top finish was a tie for sixth at the Great Lakes Regional No. 4, where he shot a 151 (76-75), while his lowest score of 142 (71-71) came at the Northern Kentucky Spring Classic. He tied for seventh place in that tournament.
