Junior centerfielder Lucas Matecki of the University of Missouri–St. Louis is one of the best outfield defenders in the Midwest, according to the American Baseball Coaches Association. He was selected to the ABCA Midwest Region Gold Glove Team for his near spotless play in the field.

Matecki started 52 games for the UMSL Tritons, recording 132 putouts and nine assists. He committed just one error for a fielding percentage of .993. The centerfielder helped UMSL to its best season since 2004, as the Tritons posted a 32-21 record, which included victories in 24 of their final 31 contests.
