The UMSL Tritons women’s soccer team kicked off the 2014 season with a pair of victories. Junior Laura Hurlbut led the way ending the opening weekend with two goals and one assist.

Women’s Soccer
The University of Missouri–St. Louis opened the 2014 season with a pair of victories last weekend. The UMSL Tritons defeated Waldorf, 3-0 on Friday, recording the season’s first shutout. They then turned around Sunday and defeated Lindenwood, 3-1, completing the weekend sweep. Junior Laura Hurlbut ended the weekend with two goals and one assist. The Tritons return to the field at home this weekend, hosting Bellarmine on Friday and McKendree on Sunday.

Men’s Soccer
The Tritons opened the 2014 season with a tie against No. 7 ranked Lindenwood on Saturday evening. On Sunday, the Tritons defeated Southwest Baptist, 9-1, completing the weekend 1-0-1. Junior Jon Huelsman converted a penalty kick to tie the game against Lindenwood before adding another goal and two assists against Southwest Baptist. UMSL returns to the field at home this weekend, hosting Bellarmine on Friday and McKendree on Sunday.

Volleyball
The Tritons posted a 3-1 record at the Dunn Hospitality Invitational this past weekend, defeating Ohio Dominican (3-1), Hillsdale (3-0), and North Alabama (3-2). Juniors Hannah Miller and Jessica Ploss were both named to the all-tournament team. UMSL will host Illinois Springfield Saturday in its Great Lakes Vally Conference and home opener before entertaining McKendree on Sunday.

Women’s Tennis
UMSL opened the 2014-15 season at the Billiken Classic, hosted by Saint Louis University, where they also faced two other NCAA Division I programs.

Men’s Tennis
UMSL competed in 2014 Billiken Classic last weekend and two players win their respective singles flights. Senior Tim McLarty won at No. 3, while freshman Alberto Maza Martin won at No. 6. UMSL will be back on the court Friday and Saturday at the Eastern Illinois Tournament in Charleston, Ill.

Women’s Golf
UMSL opened the 2014-15 season by winning the Prairie Star Preview last Friday, hosted by Lewis. Junior Joana Yanez and freshmen Ares Boira and Stefoniya Ivanova all tied for third place, each shooting a 77. The Tritons shot 310 as a team. UMSL travels to Evansville, Ind., to play in the Screaming Eagle Classic Saturday and Sunday.

Men’s Golf
The Tritons opened up the 2014-15 season with a team victory at the Arch Cup, where they defeated both Maryville and Illinois Springfield in match play. Junior Colby Yates won the individual title after shooting four-under par (71-69 – 140).
