Inspiring a crowd of high school students on campus this week seems a fitting encore to Jim Henry’s most recent performances on the national and international stage.
For the past four days, the University of Missouri–St. Louis associate professor and chair of the Department of Music has directed more than 100 young singers participating in this year’s Acappellooza.
Henry’s passionate work with the high school singers at UMSL and with the internationally renowned, 135-voice Ambassadors of Harmony was in the spotlight again July 20 on KSDK (Channel 5).
The Ambassadors of Harmony just won a fourth international championship in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier this month, and KSDK’s Art Holliday spoke with Henry about that most recent title as well as Acappellooza and the power of music to bring people together.
Watch the Ambassadors of Harmony, the Acappellooza campers and Henry sing and discuss their love of choral music on the KSDK website, and get an even fuller sense of their talents at a free performance tomorrow (Friday, July 22). Set for 7 p.m. at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center, the evening concludes this week’s overnight camp.
