Senior Manon Labeur was the top UMSL finisher in the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship, placing 41st with a combined score of 230 in the 54-hole tournament. The Tritons finished 16th in a tournament won by Findlay at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Georgia.

Women’s Golf
A young UMSL team that included two sophomores and two freshmen struggled in the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship, finishing last in the 16-team field after posting a combined score of 933 in the 54-hole tournament at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Georgia. Senior Manon Labeur, the lone upperclassmen in the lineup, led the Tritons by tying for 41st place individually with a combined score of 230. Freshman Tove Brunell tied for 52nd with a score of 232, sophomore Linn Thornqvist shot 235 to tie for 67th, freshman Juliette Lecomte tied for 78th with a total of 238, and sophomore Momo Kikuchi tied for 93rd with a score of 243. But the experience of competing in the NCAA Championship gives them plenty to build on next season. Findlay won the team title thanks to strong match play after placing eighth during the stroke play portion of the event. Findlay beat Limestone 3-2 in the championship match.

Men’s Golf
The Tritons opened play this morning in the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship at TPC Michigan in suburban Detroit. As UMSL was preparing for its 12th championship appearance in school history, the Tritons learned that Joel Sylven and Reilly Ahearn were both named the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference team. Coach Troy Halterman was chosen GLVC Coach of the Year while both Juan Antonio Padilla and the UMSL team collectively were recognized for their sportsmanship.
