Women’s Soccer
The University of Missouri–St. Louis soccer team went 2-0 last week with home victories against Great Lakes Valley Conference foes Rockhurst and Southwest Baptist at the Don Dallas Soccer Field. The Tritons blanked the Hawks 1-0 on Friday evening. Lexi Whalen kicked in the rebound of a shot from Maddie Clark in the 79th minute for the lone goal. UMSL had Rockhurst pinned in its own end much of the match and outshot the Hawks 17-5. Goalkeeper Rylee Griffith earned the shutout with two saves. The Tritons controlled the play even more in Sunday’s 4-0 romp over the Bearcats, outshooting the visitors 33-1, including 15 shots on goal. Still, it took UMSL until the 50th minute to get on the scoreboard when Josie Maddox scored off a pass from Aubree Wallace. Kennedi Hooks scored the second goal, cutting back and firing a shot into the far side of the net in the 63rd minute. The Tritons scored two more times in the next 13 minutes, with Rachel Skyberg and Natalie Heib each scoring on long shots. Griffith did not need to make a save in recording her third shutout of the season. UMSL (3-2-1, 2-0-1 GLVC) next hits the road for the first time this season, visiting Missouri S&T on Friday and Lincoln on Sunday.

Men’s Soccer
The Tritons enjoyed an unblemished week, tying Rockhurst 1-1 on Friday night at the Don Dallas Soccer Field and blanking Southwest Baptist 1-0 for their first win of the season. UMSL led for more than 40 minutes against the Hawks after Tommy Wortham chipped in his second goal of the season in the opening minute of the second half. But Kaden Cripe got the equalizer for Rockhurst in the 87th minute. Goalkeeper Jack Franklin made six saves in the match to ensure UMSL still finished with a point. Alexander Ramirez Aoueiss scored the lone goal in Sunday’s match as he fired a shot just inside the left post in the 38th minute. The Tritons (1-1-3, 1-0-2, GLVC) made it hold up, outshooting the Bearcats 17-9, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. Franklin made three saves to earn his first shutout of the season. Coach Josh Alderson‘s team will continue GLVC play this week as it visits Missouri S&T on Friday and Lincoln on Sunday.
