The University of Missouri–St. Louis welcomed a delegation from the Italian consulate in Chicago last Thursday at the Millennium Student Center. (From left) Maggie Hook, UMSL’s associate director of global experiences; George Nnanna, the founding director of the UMSL School of Engineering; Marcello Alecci, the Italian science attaché in Chicago; Joseph Colagiovanni, the honorary vice consul of Italy in St. Louis; Chris Spilling, UMSL’s vice chancellor for research and economic and community development; Mario Alberto Bartoli, the consul general of Italy in Chicago; Steven J. Berberich, UMSL’s provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs; Marina Lenza, the director of education at the consulate in Chicago; Chiara Avanzato, the director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Chicago; Andresa De Souza, an associate professor and graduate program director in the College of Education; and Francesca Ferrari, senior director of business student success in the Ed G. Smith College of Business, shared lunch in the third floor lounge. The primary objective of the visit was to meet with UMSL leadership and Italian faculty and staff and to strengthen bilateral academic and cultural relations between UMSL and the consulate in Chicago.
