Baseball
Senior starter Eli Cartwright pitched the eighth no-hitter in the history of the University of Missouri–St. Louis baseball program on Saturday, highlighting a weekend during which UMSL took three out of four games from visiting Southwest Baptist. Cartwright struck out 12 and walked four across his seven innings as the Tritons took Game 2 of Saturday’s doubleheader 4-0 at the UMSL Baseball Field. Mitch Bonczkowski hit a solo home run in the first inning to give Cartwright the only offense he’d need, but UMSL tacked on three more runs, including one on a sixth-inning RBI single by Noah Tomaras that drove in Owen Faith for one of his two runs. That was the second win of the weekend for the Tritons, who rallied from a 6-0 deficit to beat the Bearcats 13-12 in Friday’s series opener, held at CarShield Field in O’Fallon, Missouri. Justin Terhaar had five of UMSL’s 15 hits in the game. Cade Grevengoed homered, doubled and drove in five runs. Garrett Strenger added three RBI. The Tritons dropped the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader 9-2, but they finished the weekend strong after Cartwright’s no-hitter, taking Sunday’s series finale 9-1. Terhaar and Bonczkowski both homered, and Luke Saxton had three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Four pitchers combined to hold Southwest Baptist to one run on seven hits as Coach Scott Eul‘s team improved to 8-4 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. UMSL (14-14 overall) will open a four-game series at William Jewell on Thursday in Liberty, Missouri.

Softball
The Tritons split their Sunday doubleheader with crosstown rival Maryville, winning the first game 4-3 but dropping the second 8-6 at the UMSL Softball field. Gracie Philpot hit a two-run go-ahead home run in the sixth inning of the opener as the Tritons overcame a 3-2 deficit. Sasha Buckberger scattered three hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the victory. Kiley Sullivan and Madison Rozanski also drove in runs for UMSL. Sullivan had four hits in the second game, including an RBI single in the first and an RBI double in the second as the Tritons jumped out to a 5-0 lead. But the Saints turned the game around with a six-run fourth that included a grand slam by Jenna Kosnoff. Maryville tacked on two more runs in the sixth to take an 8-5 lead. Sullivan homered in the bottom of the sixth, but UMSL couldn’t muster any more offense. The Tritons (14-16, 7-3 GLVC) will play a doubleheader against Drury on Saturday at Meador Park in Springfield, Missouri.

Men’s Golf
UMSL finished second in a 20-team field at the Findlay Spring Invitational, which wrapped up last Tuesday at Boone’s Trace National Golf Club in Richmond, Kentucky. The Tritons posted a combined score of 851 and were 17 shots back of host Findlay. Logan Mayo and Dani Solavera both made the all-tournament team. Mayo shot a final-round 71 to place third overall with a 54-hole total of 209, which is tied for the eighth-lowest 54-hole score in school history. Solavera was even-par in the final round and finished at 210 overall to tie for fourth place. Nate Warren, playing as an individual, was the Tritons’ next highest finisher, coming in tied for 27th with a total of 218, one shot better than Trigg Lindahl. Ludvig Granlund and Benjamin Berger each tied for 33rd at 220. Missouri S&T’s Adam Rohizam Rizq was the individual medalist after shooting a total of 201, including a final-round 64. UMSL will next play in the West Florida Argonaut Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Pensacola Country Club in Pensacola, Florida.

UMSL took two of three doubles matches and swept singles against Westmont.
