UMSL named to Greater St. Louis Top 50

The University of Missouri-St. Louis has been named to the 2009 Greater St. Louis Top 50 by St. Louis Commerce Magazine. The university is profiled in the magazine's November issue and will be recognized at an awards dinner Nov. 18 at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront.

“I couldn’t be more pleased that the University of Missouri-St. Louis received this honor,” UMSL Chancellor Tom George said. “This is further testament of the major role we play in the region through faculty research, countless volunteer hours and the graduation of thousands of alumni who live and work in St. Louis.”

The award has been presented to 50 outstanding companies and organizations annually since 1996. Winners are selected based on their significant contributions to the St. Louis region including the positive impact on the local business community’s future.

In the St. Louis Commerce Magazine profile, UMSL was distinguished by its efforts to enhance the region through its work with hundreds of educational institutions, community organizations, government agencies and business, as well as thousands of hours of free service provided by faculty, staff and students. The magazine also lauds the university for its social and economic advancement of the area through its 54,000 alumni in greater St. Louis.
