Ron Kruszewski, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Stifel Financial Corp. will speak at UMSL from 5:30-7:15 p.m. Oct. 27. His talk is part of the Great Lecture Series.

Ronald Kruszewski credits emotional intelligence for much of his rise to the top in the business world. The chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Stifel Financial Corp. plans to share his secret at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. He will discuss “Recognizing and Developing Emotional Intelligence (EQ) for Business Success” at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Millennium Student Center on UMSL’s North Campus.

Kruszewski contends that intellect alone will not guarantee success. Recognizing and developing one’s EQ provides a new way to understand and assess behavior, management style, attitude, interpersonal skills, and potential. Kruszewski’s talk is part of the Great Lecture Series sponsored by UMSL’s Executive Leadership Consortium.

Kruszewski became CEO of Stifel Nicolaus in 1997 at the age of 38. Since then he has led Stifel through numerous mergers and acquisitions significantly increasing the company’s size and scope. Based in St. Louis, Stifel is now one of the country’s largest financial services providers.

The event is sponsored by the College of Business Administration and the Office of Alumni and Community Relations.
