Symposium will focus on art and aging Jan. 6 at UMSL.

The 2012 St. Louis Times Geriatrics Symposium will focus on aging, creativity and health and art therapy. “The Art of Aging” is the focus for this year’s daylong event, that will run from 7:30 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. Jan. 6 in the J. C. Penney Building/Conference Center at the University of Missouri–St. Louis.

With nationally-known keynote speaker Gay Hannah, local expert presenters and a live performance of “A Conversation with Louise Nevelson” by St. Louis actress Nancy Lewis, this year’s event is a must for anyone interested in an enriching, fulfilling life after retirement.

The event includes a choice of four breakout sessions in the afternoon:

Registration is $50 per person if done before Dec. 26, $60 each after, and includes event, parking, morning refreshments and lunch.

The symposium is sponsored by the Gerontology Program at UMSL, the Des Lee Collaborative Vision at UMSL,  Laumeier Sculpture Park and St. Louis Times.
