Eleanor Balson (center, holding wooden shelf) leads the beekeeping seminar “Is your hive healthy?” on July 12 at UMSL. Balson is an apiary inspector for the Illinois Department of Agriculture. She was on campus for the Heartland Apicultural Society Annual Conference, which runs July 12-14 and offers informational sessions and hands-on instruction to beekeepers of all skill levels.
