Presented by PNC Arts Alive and Jazz St. Louis, “Get Hip!” will introduce kids of all ages to the great American art form known as jazz while also teaching core values like responsibility and leadership.

“Get Hip!” is part of the Jazz St. Louis Youth Concert series. The event will begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. It is free and open to the public.

“Get Hip!” is a fun and interactive introduction to jazz that will illuminate the art form’s cultural origins, concepts about improvisation and creative self-expression. It will also explore the role and responsibility of each individual member of the jazz ensemble and how they all must work together to serve and achieve the collective goal of making great music. Attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with the instruments and participate in face painting one hour before the show.
