Malaika Horne, curator emeritus of the University of Missouri System and founding director of the Executive Leadership Consortium at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, has been appointed to the 2013 editorial board for the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education. The appointment is a three-year term.

“I am honored to be a part of the prestigious publication,” Horne said. “The submissions by these researchers represent cutting-edge information and findings that not only better inform me but also can better inform UMSL as I am still a member of the initiative.”

Prior to her appointment, Horne reviewed the journal for several years.

JDHE publishes empirical research, literature reviews and policy evaluations that help guide educational institutions in their efforts toward a more inclusive environment. The journal published its first issue in 2008.

Horne earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology at UMSL in 1971. She also holds degrees from Saint Louis University and Washington University in St. Louis. She’s a former faculty member at Webster University in Webster Groves, Mo., a current board member to numerous organizations across the St. Louis area and a recipient of the 2001 Women of Achievement Award.

Horne writes for St. Louis Women on the Move magazine and the business section of The St. Louis American.
