UMSL alumna Jennifer Tappenden

University of Missouri–St. Louis alumna Jennifer Tappenden, MFA 2012, reads her poem “Making Glass” Feb. 12 in the Millennium Student Center at the third annual Excellence in Science Award Dinner. UMSL’s College of Arts and Sciences holds the event to honor nearly 40 St. Louis-area high school juniors who have demonstrated outstanding performance in the sciences. Tappenden was the university’s inaugural poet laureate in 2012 and is the founding editor of Architrave Press, an independent literary press that produces printed poems.

The photograph was taken by UMSL photographer August Jennewein and is the latest to be featured in Eye on UMSL.
