A University of Missouri–St. Louis staff member and four alumni are among 30 north St. Louis County leaders in their 30s. The annual awards are presented by North County, Inc., a regional development organization, to individuals in their 30s making a significant impact in the community through their profession, community involvement or both.

Jessica Chandler, assistant director of athletics for compliance at UMSL, was among those individuals honored. Now in her fifth year at UMSL, Chandler helps ensure the athletics department is following all NCAA regulations. She also oversees student-athlete eligibility and progress toward a degree, and serves as the liaison for the Department of Athletics to other student service offices, including financial aid, registrar and admissions.

In addition, Chandler helps oversee the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Along with UMSL student-athletes, she has worked on different Habitat for Humanity builds and assists in putting on a carnival for a local youth initiative in the community. She belongs to several professional organizations at the national and local level.

Demolition of the SSB Tower began on Friday afternoon and continued Saturday morning during the annual UMSL Alumni 5K Run/Walk.
