University of Missouri–St. Louis sophomore pitcher Alan Frank has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Southern Indiana’s Kyle Kempf was named the Player of the Week.
Frank, who is a criminology and criminal justice major, scored two wins on the mound in nine innings of work, posting a perfect 0.00 earned run average. The UMSL Tritons hurler held opponents from Maryville and William Jewell to a combined batting average of .071 in those two outings, while striking out six and allowing just two hits. The highlight of the week came last Tuesday when the Scottsdale, Ariz., native tossed a complete game one-hitter against Maryville in UMSL’s 7-1 victory.
This is Frank’s first career weekly award and the first for an UMSL pitcher since Kyle Renaud was honored on April 22.
