Eye on UMSL: What A Fan

St. Louis Cardinals superfan and UMSL mail carrier Tom “The Hat Man” Lange shows his What A Fan Award ring to Femi John (center), who is pursuing an MBA, and Johnny Mueller, who is pursuing a master’s degree in information systems. Lange was named the 2013 What A Fan Award winner for being the No. 1 fan in Major League Baseball. He has created several elaborate (and heavy!) Cardinals-themed hats each season.

As he visits with the UMSL students, Lange wears his homage to the team’s 11 World Series championships. And you can bet he fully expects to update that hat once this postseason concludes.

The photograph was taken by UMSL photographer August Jennewein and is the latest to be featured in Eye on UMSL.
