Going into Monday, the UMSL women’s golf team was tied for seventh place at its own Las Vegas Desert Classic after a round one score of 333.

Men’s Basketball
The University of Missouri–St. Louis closed out the regular season last Thursday with an 81-67 home loss to Maryville, but bounced back to secure an 80-68 victory over William Jewell on Sunday in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament First Round to advance to the quarterfinals. Senior Aareon Smith tallied 26 points and 13 rebounds, while senior Tylor Wimbish followed with 19 points and 11 rebounds. UMSL (19-10), now the No. 7 seed in the field, will face No. 2 seed Drury on Thursday night at 6 p.m. at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.

Women’s Basketball
UMSL lost a 67-63 decision to Maryville last Thursday in its regular season finale, but garnered a 66-61 win over Bellarmine on Sunday to open GLVC Tournament play and earn a spot in Friday’s quarterfinals. Junior Kelly Kunkel scored a game-high 20 points in the win, while seniors Alexis Lawrence and Tierra Snow finished with 13 and 11, respectively. UMSL (14-13), now the No. 6 seed in the field, will face No. 3 seed Southern Indiana on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.

Men’s Golf
UMSL sits in third place out of 17 teams at its own Las Vegas Desert Classic after a round one score of 296 on Sunday, four strokes out of the lead with the final 18 holes to be played on Monday. Junior Anthony Cope shot a team-best 72 and is tied for fifth place.

Women’s Golf
UMSL sits in a tie for seventh place out of 13 teams at its own Las Vegas Desert Classic after a round one score of 333 on Sunday, with the final 18 holes to be played on Monday. Junior Joana Yanez carded a team-best 78 and is tied for seventh place

Men’s Tennis
The No. 36 ranked UMSL Tritons opened the spring portion of its schedule with a 5-4 loss to Bellarmine on Sunday. Senior Tim McLarty won both his doubles and singles match. UMSL plays three matches on the road this weekend, beginning Thursday at Newman.
