Junior Salome Bleuler picked up her 20th victories of the season in both singles and doubles last week as the No. 31 women’s tennis team swept William Jewell and beat Rockhurst.

Softball
UMSL went 2-2 on the weekend, splitting doubleheaders with Missouri S&T and Drury in its final two home series of the season. Junior Chelsea Martinez went 8 for 13 at the plate with three doubles and hit safely in all four games for the Tritons with at least two hits in three of them. Junior Serena Olson tallied four home runs to bring her season total to 17, one shy of the single season record. UMSL (28-16, 15-7 Great Lakes Valley Conference) will play a doubleheader at Maryville at noon on Sunday.

Baseball
The Tritons lost two of three games played against Maryville last weekend with the fourth game being suspended and concluding on Monday. The Tritons rallied from a 12-1 deficit in game one for a 16-15 victory. Senior Jacob Monti delivered a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to cap a five-run, five-hit frame, giving UMSL a 14-13 lead it would not relinquish. Monti finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored. The Tritons (15-19, 7-8 GLVC) will host Harris-Stowe on Tuesday before traveling to Truman State this weekend for a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday.

Women’s Tennis
No. 31 UMSL defeated William Jewell (6-0) and Rockhurst (5-1) last weekend to wrap up the regular season with a 12-4 record, including a 5-1 mark in GLVC play. The Tritons swept doubles in both matches, which included Salome Bleuler and Kristine Lindal winning their 10th straight at No. 1 doubles to finish 6-0 in GLVC matches. Lindal also won both of her matches at No. 3 singles, finishing league play with a 5-1 record. UMSL will be the No. 2 West Division seed in next weekend’s GLVC Tournament Championship and open play on Friday at 1 p.m. against No. 3 East Division seed Illinois Springfield.

Men’s Tennis
The Tritons finished the regular season with an 8-0 win over William Jewell and a 5-1 victory over No. 42 ranked Rockhurst. Sophomores Ben-Hur Kasprzak and Milan Kovacs won both of their doubles matches, including an 8-5 victory over Rockhurst’s No. 45 ranked duo, and ended league play with a 4-0 mark. Kasprzak also went 2-0 at No. 1 singles while freshman Vitor Monteiro did the same at No. 2 singles. Each finished 5-0 in GLVC play. UMSL (12-3, 5-1 GLVC) will be the No. 2 West Division seed in next weekend’s GLVC Tournament Championship and opens play on Friday at 9 a.m. against No. 3 East Division seed Southern Indiana. The GLVC Tournament will be played in Springfield, Missouri.

Men’s Golf
UMSL captured its first team title of the year last Tuesday as it fended off Grand Valley State to win the Greyhound Invitational. The Tritons turned in a three-day, 54-hole score of 868 (281-291-296), edging the Lakers by one stroke in the 18-team field. Sophomore Chris Ferris placed third individually, turning in a career-best 214 (69-73-72). UMSL returns to the links April 22-24 at the GLVC Championships in Carmel, Indiana.

Women’s Golf
The Tritons followed their victory in last week’s UMSL Spring Invitational with a dual win against Illinois Springfield 300-324 on Saturday at Fox Run Golf club. Senior Ares Boira finished first with a 72. UMSL returns to the links Saturday and Sunday at the UIS Spring Invitational.
