The softball team ran its conference record to 12-6 with a two-game sweep of Maryville heading into the final games of this season's home schedule.
UMSL Tritons weekly rewind – 04.15.19

Junior Andee Tiffee pulled double duty for the Tritons in a two-game sweep of Maryville, striking out 12 and picking up the win pitching in the first game and going 3-for-5 at the plate in the second game.

Softball
UMSL swept Maryville 4-2 and 3-2 last week. Junior Andee Tiffee was 3 for 5 at the plate with a home run in Game 2 and picked up the win in the circle in Game 1, striking out 12. Senior Chelsea Martinez’s three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh of the opening game helped power the Tritons to that victory. UMSL (23-17, 12-6 Great Lakes Valley Conference) wraps up the home portion of its schedule on Friday and Saturday, hosting Rockhurst and William Jewell, respectively.

Baseball
UMSL fell to Maryville during the week and lost a three-game series at Missouri S&T over the weekend. Senior Tom DeCero finished the week with seven hits, while redshirt senior Brian Seymour had six hits, including a pair of doubles. The Tritons (7-28, 6-18 GLVC) host Lindenwood on Tuesday and Drury on Friday and Saturday in a three-game conference series.

Men’s Tennis
UMSL closed out its regular season with wins at William Jewell (7-0) and Rockhurst (6-1) last weekend. The Tritons didn’t drop any singles matches, while senior Rob White and junior Milan Kovacs went 2-0 in doubles. The Tritons (13-5, 5-1 GLVC) begin GLVC Tournament play on Friday against Illinois Springfield. The 2019 conference championship will be played in Indianapolis.

Women’s Tennis
UMSL went 3-0 last week, sweeping Southern Indiana and William Jewell before taking a 6-1 victory at Rockhurst. Freshman Odette Beagrie went 3-0 in both singles and doubles and finished her first collegiate season with 6-0 conference marks in both singles and doubles. The Tritons (12-4, 4-2 GLVC) will play at NCAA Division III power Washington University in St. Louis on Tuesday before opening GLVC Tournament play against Lewis on Friday. The 2019 conference championship will be played in Indianapolis.

Women’s Golf
Junior Emma Thorngren tied for fourth place individually as the women’s golf team hosted the Triton Invitational at Norwood Hills Country Club last Sunday and Monday. Thorngren turned in a 36-hole score of 150 (77-73), while UMSL took third in the 16-team field with a 622 (313-309). The Tritons are idle until the GLVC Championships from April 26-28 in Springfield, Illinois.

Men’s Golf
UMSL posted a fifth-place finish at the Greyhound Invitational, hosted by Indianapolis, last Sunday through Tuesday. The Tritons turned in a score of 879 (287-298-294) and were led by freshman Joel Sylven, who tied for ninth place with a 215 (67-76-72). It was his eighth top-10 finish of the year. UMSL returns to the links April 21-23 at the GLVC Championships in Springfield, Illinois.
