Charlotte Richards had 21 kills as the volleyball team swept No. 13 Ferris State at last weekend’s Midwest Region Crossover Tournament and improved to 20-2 on the season.

Volleyball
UMSL continued its torrid start, going 3-0 at last weekend’s Midwest Region Crossover Tournament to improve to 20-2. The highlight of the weekend was a 3-0 victory over No. 13 Ferris State. Sophomore Charlotte Richards was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 4.50 kills and 2.60 digs per set. Sophomore Megan Woll averaged 5.40 digs per set and collected the 1,000th career dig. UMSL (20-2, 5-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) travels to No. 10 Lewis on Friday and to Illinois Springfield on Saturday.

Men’s Soccer
The Tritons defeated William Jewell 4-0 on Friday night before picking up a 2-1 win over Rockhurst on Sunday. Senior Magnus Andersen scored a goal in each game, including the game-winner over Rockhurst in the 60th minute. UMSL (5-9, 3-8 GLVC) closes out the home portion of its schedule this weekend, welcoming Southwest Baptist and Drury on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Women’s Soccer
UMSL recorded a pair of shutouts last weekend, blanking William Jewell and No. 24 ranked Rockhurst by 2-0 scores. Freshmen scored all four Tritons goals, including one in each game from Courtney Schreiber. Junior Amber Hayes played all 180 minutes in goal, making nine saves. UMSL (3-10, 3-8 GLVC) hosts Southwest Baptist on Friday and Drury on Sunday in the home finales.

Men’s Golf
The Tritons placed eighth at the National Preview, held last Monday and Tuesday at the Country Club of St. Albans, site of the 2020 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship in May. UMSL turned in a combined score of 889 (292-294-303). Sophomore Joel Sylven led the way with a score of 216 (75-75-67) to finish in a tie for 10th. Sylven entered the final day in a tie for 40th place but moved up 30 spots with his final 18 round of 5 under par. The Tritons will close out the fall portion of their schedule next Monday and Tuesday at the McDonough Cup in Orlando, Florida.

Women’s Golf
Senior Emma Thorngren tied for sixth place at the National Preview, held last Monday and Tuesday, at the Country Club of St. Albans, site of the 2020 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship in May. Thorngren posted rounds of 74, 77 and 77 to finish with a combined scored of 227, 10 strokes behind the medalist. As a team, UMSL finished in a tie for seventh in the 14-team field with a total of 953 (317-316-320). The Tritons are closing out their fall schedule today and tomorrow in St. Augustine, Florida at the Flagler Fall Slam.
