Kevin Smith, assistant director of athletics for marketing at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, pitched in to power wash the sidewalk behind home plate last week at UMSL Baseball Field on South Campus. Smith used to star on that field while earning a bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice and a master’s degree in higher education. The right-handed pitcher earned second-team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors for the Tritons as a senior in 2017 to cap a career that saw him amass 172 career strikeouts 195 career innings pitched, good for fourth and eighth most, respectively, in school history.
