Louie the Triton catches a ride with Chancellor Kristin Sobolik during Saturday’s UMSL Alumni 5k Run & Walk. The inaugural event kicked off at 8 a.m. from the rotunda outside the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center at University of Missouri–St. Louis. The runners traversed Grobeman Drive, circled the science complex to head north up West Drive to the wooded Ted Jones Trail and hit a steep incline back to the Touhill and the finish line.

Sobolik hosted the event, announcing the winners at the awards ceremony following the race, and closing the successful morning event, which drew over 200 participants.

“All right, Tritons, great job,” she said. “We are all winners here in Triton land. Great job. UMSL proud. Kudos to our fantastic UMSL Alumni Association for coming out and developing this wonderful inaugural event. We will be here next year, so be here or be square.”
