From left, University of Missouri–St. Louis psychology student Makenzie Strickler, biology student James Ott and international business student Hendrik Bechtel plant a Bur Oak tree near the Science Complex on North Campus. As part of its commitment to being an official Tree Campus, UMSL hosted Arbor Day activities on Nov. 7. Students learned about the importance of urban trees, how to properly plant a tree and UMSL’s involvement in the Tree Campus USA program. Members of the UMSL’s Green Team, UMSL Sustainability and the Environmental Adventure Organization hosted the event. Trees were planted on several areas of North and South Campus. Students also helped remove nonnative species. The trees came from Forest ReLeaf of Missouri through their Project CommuniTree program.
