Women’s Basketball
The University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s basketball team ran its winning streak to four games with a pair of double-digit road victories last week, beating Lincoln 78-53 on Thursday in Jefferson City, Missouri, and Missouri S&T 72-61 on Saturday in Rolla, Missouri. Alex Wolff paced the Tritons with 18 points, and Mara Rieder had 15 points and 11 rebounds off the bench in Thursday’s victory. Kate Rolfes also went 5 for 7 from 3-point range to match Rieder with 15 points, and Emerson Weller added 10 points in a reserve role. UMSL held Lincoln to 31% shooting, including 3 for 17 in a third quarter that saw the Tritons outscore the Blue Tigers 25-10. UMSL again had four players in double figures against the Miners. Katie Hamill led the way with 16 points, Rolfes added 15, Wolf had 12 and Morgan Ramthun finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. The Tritons shot 50% from the field while holding S&T to 36.2%. UMSL (13-3, 7-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) will play at Quincy on Monday in a game rescheduled from Jan. 5 and also visit Maryville on Thursday.

Men’s Basketball
Junior guard Matt Enright averaged 20.3 points while leading the Tritons to a 2-1 record last week with wins against Southwest Baptist and Lincoln and a narrow loss to No. 15 Missouri S&T. Enright led four Tritons in double figures with 17 points in a 71-65 home victory over Southwest Baptist last Monday in a game rescheduled from Jan. 9. KC Udolisa scored 16 points, and Savon Wykle and Troy Glover II each had 14 as UMSL shot 57.1% from the field. Glover also blocked four shots in the win. Enright scored 20 points and Emanuel Prospere II had 19 to lead the Tritons to a 69-51 victory at Lincoln. UMSL shot 51.2%, including 8 for 16 from beyond the 3-point arc in the victory and also limited the Blue Tigers to 30.6% shooting. The Tritons fought back from an eight-point halftime deficit against the Miners and were tied at 84 after Wykle’s free throws with 27 seconds remaining, but Missouri S&T scored the game’s final four points to pull out an 88-84 victory. Andrew Young’s put-back layup snapped the tie in the waning seconds, and Enright turned the ball over and committed a foul before the Tritons had a chance to pull even. Lovell Williams closed the game with two free throws. Williams and Young each finished with 20 points. Prospere scored 25 points, and Enright had 24 while going 4 for 7 from 3-point range. The Tritons (8-8, 6-3 GLVC) will play at Quincy on Monday in a game rescheduled from Jan. 5 and will visit Maryville on Thursday.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming
UMSL’s swimming teams won a combined 11 events on Friday in dual meets against NCAA Division III Washington University, but the Bears won the team competitions with the women beating the Tritons 155-82 and the men winning 153-78. Sophomore Justice Beard won both the 1,000- and 500-yard freestyle races, setting a Millstone Pool record with a time of 10 minutes, 15 seconds in the 1,000 and finishing first in the 500 with a time of 5:02.46. Audrey Lantz won the 100-yard butterfly, edging teammate Macy Ganshert in a time of 58.23 seconds. Kate Nelson was first in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 54.53, and Ella Lantz took the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke in 58.77 seconds. UMSL also won the 200-yard freestyle relay as the quartet of Romina Itzkovich, Nelson, Audrey Lantz and Madison Bottorff posted a time of 1:38.78. On the men’s side, sophomore Hendrik Bechtel and senior Conley Savage both won two events with Bechtel winning the 1,000 freestyle in 9:45.08 and the 500 freestyle in 4:47.12 and Conely taking first in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:1:54.64 and the 100 butterfly in 51.11 seconds. UMSL also picked up a victory in the 200 freestyle relay with David Reynolds, Metehan Saruhan, Lathan Parks and Joan Cortadellas Llubera posting a time of 1:25.94. UMSL will be back in action on Friday when it plays host to Division I Saint Louis University in its final home dual of the year at the UMSL Swimming Pool.
