The University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s golf team ended its season with a 14th-place finish among the 18 teams that qualified for the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship, held last week at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. The Tritons compiled a team score of 880 through the 54-hole tournament. Their best round was the second, when they put together a total of 291 to move within two shots of eighth place and the final match-play spot heading into the last day of stroke play. But UMSL couldn’t make a move over the final 18 holes, finishing Thursday’s round at a collective 6 over par. Junior Wilma Zanderau, who earlier in the week was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year, had a strong tournament individually, finishing with a total of 212, including a final-round 70 to finish 4 under, good for a tie for 10th place on the individual leaderboard. She has now finished in the top 10 at nationals for three consecutive years. Sophomore Hillary Currier was UMSL’s next highest finisher in a tie for 64th with a total of 223. Freshman Emmy Wahl made a final-round move with a 71 and ended up tied for 74th with a score of 225. GLVC Freshman of the Year Mayan Covarrubias and senior Juliette Lecomte finished with scores of 226 and 229, respectively. Cal State San Marcos’ Madison Murr was the individual medalist with a 54-hole score of 202 (69-64-69) and won by three shots over Dallas Baptist’s Gracie Grant. Grant helped Dallas Baptist to a first-place finish in the stroke-play portion of the tournament with a total team score of 846. The Patriots went on to win match play, as well, capturing the NCAA Division II Championship. They knocked off Wingate and Anderson to reach the championship match and topped Central Missouri 4-1 to secure their second title in three years and third since 2021.
