The annual UMSL Night at the Ballpark brought more than 850 University of Missouri–St. Louis students, faculty, staff members and alumni out to Busch Stadium Friday night. The group of 350 students and over 500 alumni cheered on the St. Louis Cardinals as they faced the Cleveland Guardians. UMSL alum Lathon Ferguson, the area executive director of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, threw out the first pitch. Ferguson, who graduated with his bachelor’s in political science in 2003, is also a member of the UMSL Alumni Association Governing Board.
Photographer Phil Shoulberg and social media manager Valerie Furlong were on hand to capture some of the scenes before and during the game.
