Peaceful Forest, a group featuring Japanese taiko drummer Takumi Kato and his three children, performed Nov. 4 in the Millennium Student Center Century Rooms at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. The show of traditional Japanese drumming was sponsored by UMSL’s Department of Language and Cultural Studies.

Kato is a world champion taiko drummer from Japan. He and his children are aspiring to deliver 1,000 performances across all 50 states in a four-year period that began in October 2022. Their aim is to promote peace and harmony. They have now completed more than 400 performances in 27 states toward this goal.
