UMSL dance students will perform at the “Sum of Motion” dance concert at the Touhill April 5 through April 7.

Dance students will put on an eclectic performance when they take to the stage for the University of Missouri–St. Louis’ spring dance concert, “Sum of Motion.”

The three night event will start at 8 p.m. on April 5 and run through April 7, in the E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Theater at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center at UMSL. Tickets are $5.

Students will perform dance pieces choreographed by faculty, guest artist and aspiring student choreographers.

The concert will be directed by Rob Scoggins, assistant professor of dance at UMSL, and Todd Weeks, adjunct instructor of dance at UMSL and associate artist director at MADCO. Students will perform dances choreographed by Scoggins, Weeks, Jennifer Reilly, Jacob Lewis and Clayne Hammon. Recently, Broadway professional Daryl Gray was on campus helping prepare the dance students for a number they’ll perform at “Sum of Motion.” It’s a jazzy, big band-period piece.

Attendees will also be treated to a special guest performance by members of The Normandy Dance Academy.

The spring concert is sponsored by the Department of Theatre, Dance and Media Studies.
