Robert L. Reed founded the St. Louis Tap Festival, which is now in its 21st year. The fest will culminate with the performance "All That Tap XXI" July 28 at the Touhill Center at UMSL.

As dance styles go, tap won’t be confused for contemporary. But it certainly isn’t dead yet.

Need proof? Exhibit A: The St. Louis Tap Festival, now in its 21st year.

The fest will bring together some of the world’s best tap dancers including Bob Scheerer, Claudia Rahardjanoto, Logan Miller, Denise Caston, Dormeshia Sumbry Edwards, Martin ‘Tre” Dumas III, Robin Reed and festival founder Prof. Robert. L. Reed. It features a week of classes, workshops and tap jams that culminates in a public performance at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. “All That Tap XXI” will begin at 7 p.m. July 28 at the Touhill.

“All That Tap XXI” will include performances that run the gamut of tap styles, from smooth jazz to hard-hitting funk. Admission to the intimate and rhythmic performance is $35. Visit touhill.org or call 314-516-4949 to order tickets.
