Patrick Ream, a senior goalkeeper for the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s soccer team, held opponents scoreless over 188 minutes and 42 seconds of play last week. The two shutouts also ran his streak to four consecutive games and led to him being named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. He is only the second men’s soccer player to earn the distinction.

A native of St. Charles, Mo., Ream stopped a career-best eight shots against No. 5 ranked Rockhurst University (Kansas City, Mo.), which entered the Sept. 21 game with 14 goals on the year. He then added three saves in UMSL’s 1-0 blanking of William Jewell College (Liberty, Mo.) on Sept. 23.

Ream currently boasts a 5-2 record between the posts.

Colin Huber, a four-year standout who is now the UMSL women’s soccer assistant coach, was the first UMSL player to be named GLVC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. He earned the award on Sept. 18, 2006.
