Gallery Visio fundraiser to benefit Will Flores Fund

The fifth annual “Art for AIDS” fundraiser and exhibit will feature new works by Marlene DiFiori Locke and Christopher Schulte. The exhibit will open Jan. 21 and run through Feb. 18 in Gallery Visio at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. A public reception will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 21 in the gallery, 170 Millennium Student Center at UMSL. All paintings and sculptures are for

sale with 100 percent of Gallery Visio’s proceeds going to the Will Flores Fund, a Missouri nonprofit organization assisting children and families affected and afflicted by HIV and AIDS.

Gallery Visio will display more than 40 paintings by Locke, primarily from the Eddy Series in which she experiments with the beauty in organic textures and shapes. Schulte will be exhibiting new porcelain totem structures that will adorn the center of the gallery and create a “Garden of Souls.”

Gallery Visio is the student-run gallery at UMSL. It is committed to exhibiting art of undergraduate students and alumni at UMSL, as well as emerging artists. The gallery hosts art activities for the purpose of study, education and enjoyment. Regular gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. This exhibit is sponsored by the Gallery Visio Student Association at UMSL.
