A live art show, work by a husband-wife team, a collection of photos taken abroad and four additional exhibits will grace the student-run space of Gallery Visio during its 2010-11 season.
The University of Missouri–St. Louis gallery’s next season will include the following:
From Aug. 26 to Sept. 23, “Live Art at the Pilot House” will be Gallery Visio’s first live art show featuring a variety of artists from the UMSL community.
From Sept. 30 to Oct. 28, “Finding Muse” will include a collection of artwork using local figure model Roderick Young as inspiration.
From Nov. 11 to Dec. 16, the gallery’s annual fundraising exhibit “Art for AIDS” will showcase new works for sale by UMSL students and staff. All proceeds will go to the Will Flores Fund, which assists children and families affected by HIV and AIDS.
From Jan. 27 to Feb. 17, “Digital.” will feature digital art by UMSL students. The exhibit will include digital painting, digital manipulations of traditional forms of art, mixed media and computer-generated imaging.
From Feb. 24 to March 24, the traveling exhibit “Lifeblood” will feature work by St. Louis and UMSL artists that depicts the personal journey through womanhood.
From April 7 to 21, the sixth annual juried exhibit “Center for International Studies Photo Contest” will display photographs taken by UMSL students and faculty traveling abroad.
From April 28 to May 16, “Customized Vistas” will include husband-and-wife team Joseph D’Uva and Summer Zickefoose’s latest work inspired by both suburban and rural landscapes.
The Gallery Visio Student Association at UMSL was founded by fine arts, anthropology, photography and graphic design students in 2001 to run Gallery Visio. The gallery’s first exhibit was held in February 2002.
Gallery Visio is in 170 Millennium Student Center at UMSL, One University Blvd. in St. Louis County (63121). Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. All exhibits are free and open to the public.
