"Crashing Gates" by Jeff Sippel, associate professor of art at UMSL, is on display at Gallery 210.
The artwork now on display at the University of Missouri–St. Louis’ Gallery 210 touches on a wide variety of media. There are sculptures, graphic design work, drawings, paintings, photography and mixed media. The one thing they all have in common? The pieces have been created by tenured and adjunct studio art faculty from the Department of Art and Art History at UMSL.
“Biennial: The UMSL Fine Art Faculty” will be on display through Oct. 9.
The studio art faculty at UMSL has exhibited their work regionally, nationally and internationally. They have received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ford Foundation and been honored by a variety of national and international arts organizations. Their work is included in important public and private collections, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Saint Louis Art Museum, Library of Congress, Museum of Contemporary Photography, McDonnell Douglass Corporation and Emerson Electric.
UMSL students can earn a bachelor’s degree in one of six studio art concentrations: drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, graphic design and general fine arts. The department also offers a minor in studio art and certificate in photographic studies.
All exhibits at Gallery 210 are free and open to the public. The gallery is in the Telecommunity Center at UMSL, One University Blvd. in St. Louis County (63121). Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
