Men’s Basketball
UMSL posted a 3-0 record last week, including wins in the UMSL Thanksgiving Classic over Missouri Western (74-61) and Central Missouri (84-74). Senior Johnathan Matthews averaged 14.3 points and 2.7 assists over the three games and scored a career-high 26 points in the win over Central Missouri. Sophomore Shane Wissink added 12.7 points and 5.3 assists per game. The Tritons (6-1) begin Great Lakes Valley Conference play this week at home, hosting McKendree on Thursday and Illinois Springfield on Saturday.
Women’s Basketball
UMSL picked up two early week victories, defeating Southwest Baptist 69-67 last Monday on senior Arielle Jackson’s game-winning shot at the buzzer before downing Kentucky State 76-58 on Wednesday. Jackson averaged 20 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals in the two contests. The Tritons (3-3) begin GLVC play this week at home, hosting McKendree on Thursday and Illinois Springfield on Saturday.
