Triton Loaner Technology Program Changes

At this time, the Triton Loaner Laptop program will become an emergency resource facilitated by the Student Advocacy & Care office.

During the pandemic, this program was essential in supporting students faced with the unexpected transition to remote courses and the closure of campus and community resources, such as computer labs and libraries. As we transition to offering an increased number of in-person courses and consistent campus and community resources, the program will move toward supporting emergency needs within our Triton community.

Under the new plan, technology equipment such as laptops and webcams will be available to students who experience unanticipated/unexpected emergencies or situations that inhibit their ability to continue in online courses or keep up with course work appropriately from home (i.e. housefire, stolen laptop). Loaner equipment will be issued on a short-term basis unless determined otherwise. All equipment will be due back at the end of each semester, regardless if the student is taking classes the following semester. This will allow our IT partners to update, clean, or service equipment. Students who do not have the financial means to have a personal device such as a laptop or desktop will be encouraged to use the campus computing labs or community resources such as St. Louis Public Libraries. With over 9,000 students on campus, we do not have the resources to support a robust loaner program. Instead, we will focus on emergency situations. It is our goal to support students’ continuity of progress in their semester.

Students can request emergency assistance, including loaner technology equipment, through the Triton Emergency Fund application found here

Please also refer students any time using this form to meet with a campus social worker to assess and connect for other needs.
