Up and at’em

Sophie, Emily, and I were up at 5:00 am, which is pretty early for me since I am normally a night owl. This morning was a Square breakfast, and I could not pass up a chance to learn more about what St. Louis native Jack Dorsey’s company has been up to. The speaker for the event was Sarah Friar, the CFO of square. She discussed her role at the company as well as her own personal experiences. Sarah was the pioneer of the Square Capital, which allows small businesses to apply for credit. There was a video that also went along with it that showed the huge impact Square Capital has made on these small companies, which is amazing. It was very cool to hear that the company is so inclusive that even their CFO is able to make a huge impact on a company’s ideas for developing products. She discussed the “four” corners of the company, and invited all of us in the room to take risks. This is a company that is constantly challenging every employee from the bottom to the top to think creatively and push the envelope to come up with cutting edge ideas!! I can’t wait to see what they do when they open up an office in St. Louis! I know I am applying!
