Mavrothi Kontanis and the Maeandros Ensemble will perform their blend of traditional folk, urban and classical music of Greece and the Near East at the University of Missouri–St. Louis at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 in the E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Theater at UMSL’s Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center.

Founded by singer-songwriter Kontanis, the group’s repertoire includes songs representing historic significance and contemporary appeal.

A pre-show discussion with the group will be held at 6:40 p.m.

Along with UMSL, this lecture is co-sponsored by the E. Desmond Lee Global Ethnic Collaborative and Karakas Family Foundation Alliance for the Advancement of Hellenic Studies, the Hellenic Government-Karakas Family Foundation Professorship in Greek Studies at UMSL, Center for International Studies at UMSL and the Touhill.
