Costas Azariadis will discuss the current financial crisis and whether the United States and Europe are in recovery mode during his lecture “Confidence Crises and Financial Meltdowns” at 7:30 p.m. May 4 in the Student Government Chamber in the Millennium Student Center at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Azariadis is the Edward Mallinckrodt Distinguished Professor in Arts and Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis. He has served as editor or co-editor for numerous journals and is a Fellow of The Econometric Society. His research focus is on macroeconomic dynamics and economic development.

This lecture is sponsored by the Hellenic Government-Karakas Family Foundation Professorship in Greek Studies at UMSL and UMSL.
