The women’s game kicks off at 12 p.m. against GLVC rival Missouri S&T, with the men’s game to follow at 2:30 p.m. Admission to the games is $7 and free for kids under six. The Baron in the Grand Canyon

Description: Steven Rowan, professor of history at UMSL, recounts his research into the expeditions to the West of the artist, map-maker and editor Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Egloffstein, who was the son of a family of imperial barons who left the Prussian army rangers and emigrated to St. Louis in the 1840s. Egloffstein’s experiences in the western mountains, canyons, rivers and Hopi Settlements of Arizona inspired one of the earliest efforts to print photographic images. Rowan has held positions at King’s College London, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the Institute for Advance Study (Princeton), and a Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Austria. Rowan’s program grows out of work on his recently completed book on Egloffstein.
